Eligibility of 8th Graders
by posted 09/04/2008

We have received clarification from USA Hockey that 8th graders may participate in our league as a goalie, but NOT as a skater.  As a reminder, an 8th grade goalie may only be used with Executive Board approval and only if there is no high school aged goalie available.

Injured Players on the Bench
by posted 01/02/2008

Coaches, Parents, and Players:  On occasion, we have players who are injured and not able to play.  Typically they sit outside the rink and cheer on their team, but on occasion ask if they may sit on the player’s bench with their team.  This is allowed only if the injured player is in full uniform and wearing all required protective gear.  While this is not a new rule, it has been only partially enforced in past seasons.  This year, with the change in ruling for a delay of game resulting from a team deliberately shooting the puck out of the playing surface, the Board has decided to enforce this rule for safety and insurance reasons.  This change was reviewed during pre-season coaches meetings, but unfortunately not all members of the SOHA community were aware of this.  Thank you for your ongoing support in ensuring our that our players remain as safe as possible.
