SOHA 2009 -2010 Season Information

2009-2010 SOHA SEASON NEWS
 
The 2009-2010 season will be here before you know it – start planning now.
 
-         First Coaches meeting: 9:00am–12:00pm Saturday, September 12, 2009
 
-         Team Evaluations: 9:00am–12:00pm Saturday, October 3, 2009
 
-         Unattached Jr High Evaluations: 1:00pm–2:00pm Saturday, October 3, 2009
 
-         Team/Player paperwork due: 6:00pm–8:00pm Wednesday, October 21, 2009
 
-         Member Upload Spreadsheets due: 8:00pm Wednesday, October 28, 2009
 
-         Cost per team will likely be $2,300 (Jr and Sr High)
 
-         We have a limited number of team slots available
 
-         All games will be played at SPORTS PLUS
 
-         Jr High and Sr High start date: Monday, November 2, 2009
 
-         Games times: 6:00pm, 7:00pm, 8:00pm and 9:00pm
 
-         Jr High will likely not play in the 9:00pm time slot
 
-         12 -14 Regular Season games + Playoffs
 
-         Anticipated Completion of Playoffs: March 30, 2010
 
-         Get the word out about your team now before the current school year ends
 
-         Practice time may be hard to reserve – consider booking now

Unattached / Free Agent Rule

At the Evaluation Meeting for the 2008-2009 season, it was discussed that there needed to be a clear cut rule for the hanlding of what is being called Unattached / Free Agents.  These are single players from a school that doesn't have a team, players "cut" from their school team, etc.  SOHA has prepared a rule to handle these situations.  It is available in the DOCUMENTS section as item 1.5.  This rule will be in effect for the 2009-2010 season.

Injured Players on the Bench

SOHA has revisited our policy of requiring full equipment (except skates) for injured players that wish to sit with their team on the bench and changed the requirement to Helmet and Jersey only. No Gloves, Elbow or Shin pads are required for Injured Players sitting on the bench.

Eligibility of 8th Graders for High School league

We have received clarification from USA Hockey that 8th graders may participate in our High School league as a goalie, but NOT as a skater.  As a reminder, an 8th grade goalie may only be used with Executive Board approval and only if there is no high school aged goalie available.
